I came to the realization today that my 4Runner is smaller than my housemate’s RAV4 in every dimension besides height and am having an impossible time wrapping my head around it. I mean according to Edmunds it’s 3 inches shorter, 7(7!) inches narrower and only 1 inch higher stock, so with my small lift maybe 2 inches taller as it sits. I mean, most of his height comes from the cabin(which feels significantly roomier than mine) and most of mine comes from ground clearance(you get down/side into his while mine requires an athletic hop up). But driving his feels kinda just like driving a small car while mine feels like a truck. I have a lot more cargo space at the expense of back seat space but my back seat doesn’t even hold a candle to his.

I just think it’s crazy how bloated cars have gotten.

The 3rd gen is basically the same dimensions as the new Cherokee.

I just find that astonishing.. I saw my 4Runner parked next to his RAV4 and was like wait a sec... that thing is definitely longer than mine and it actually was

One of my other housemates has a Series 100 Cruiser so he can give me a run for my money but it is absolutely the better SUV than the RAV4. About a million times more personality.

I’ll see if I can park next to a cherokee and get a pic.

On the other hand, my D1 is barely wider and barely longer than my XJ was; but it is GIGANTIC inside. The huge roof helps. So do the 1.5" thick doors.

Yeah, I definitely get more interior space out of my exterior dimensions than he does, ditto on the doors also fewer airbags, crumple zones etc etc

Other than height, mine is similar in size to my Mom’s Vibe.
